Thermostatic Radiator Valve Thermostat

Thermostatic Radiator Valve Thermostat

Thermostatic Radiator Valve Thermostat

Toupwell provides smart radiator temperature control solutions for room-by-room heating management in homes, apartments, offices, hotels, schools and commercial buildings.

Our smart thermostatic radiator valves, also known as smart TRVs or radiator thermostats, replace compatible mechanical radiator valve heads and automatically regulate the flow of hot water through each radiator. Users can set individual room temperatures, create heating schedules and manage compatible devices through the Tuya or Smart Life app.

The Toupwell TRV-01 uses Zigbee 3.0 wireless communication and is designed for compatible M30×1.5 radiator valve bodies. Multiple adapters are available to support other commonly used thermostatic radiator valve connections.

Smart radiator temperature control is suitable for retrofit projects because the radiator thermostat is battery-powered and does not require new control wiring to each radiator.

Toupwell supports OEM and ODM smart radiator thermostat projects for HVAC distributors, smart-home brands, heating-system suppliers, importers and system integrators.

What Is Radiator Temperature Control?

Radiator temperature control regulates how much hot water flows through each radiator according to the temperature required in that room.

A traditional radiator system may use one central thermostat to control the boiler. When the central thermostat requests heat, all open radiators can receive hot water, even when some rooms are already warm or are not being used.

A thermostatic radiator valve provides local control by adjusting the water flow into an individual radiator.

A smart thermostatic radiator valve adds electronic temperature sensing, motorized valve control, scheduling and wireless communication. This enables each radiator or room to use a different temperature setting.

For example:

  • The living room can be kept comfortable during the evening.

  • Bedrooms can use a lower nighttime temperature.

  • A guest room can remain at a reduced temperature when unoccupied.

  • An office can follow working-hour schedules.

  • A bathroom can be warmed before normal use.

  • All radiators can be reduced when the property is empty.

This room-by-room approach gives users more control than relying only on one central room thermostat.

How Does a Smart Radiator Valve Work?

A smart radiator thermostat is installed on a compatible thermostatic radiator valve body.

The operating process is generally:

  1. The built-in sensor measures the temperature near the radiator.

  2. The thermostat compares the measured temperature with the selected setpoint.

  3. An internal motor moves the actuator mechanism.

  4. The mechanism pushes or releases the radiator valve pin.

  5. The valve changes the flow of hot water through the radiator.

  6. The radiator output increases or decreases.

  7. The thermostat continues adjusting the valve to maintain the selected room temperature.

The smart TRV does not normally pump water or produce heat itself. It controls only the valve fitted to the individual radiator.

The heating system must still have an operating boiler, circulation pump or central heat source.

Main Smart Radiator Thermostat Functions

Programmable Heating Schedules

Scheduling allows the radiator to use different temperatures according to the time and day.

Typical schedule periods include:

  • Morning warm-up

  • Daytime setback

  • Evening comfort

  • Nighttime reduction

  • Weekend operation

  • Holiday operation

The available number of time periods should be confirmed for the selected firmware.

Open-Window Detection

Open-window detection responds to a rapid temperature drop that may occur when a nearby window is opened.

The thermostat can temporarily reduce or close the radiator valve to limit unnecessary heating during ventilation.

Detection performance can vary according to:

  • Distance from the window

  • Outdoor temperature

  • Room layout

  • Radiator position

  • Air movement

  • Detection settings

Open-window detection should not be treated as a replacement for a physical window sensor when exact window status is required.

Child Lock

Child lock helps prevent accidental changes to the radiator temperature and settings.

This is useful in:

  • Family homes

  • Schools

  • Hotels

  • Rental apartments

  • Shared offices

  • Public buildings

Frost Protection

Frost protection maintains a low minimum setting to reduce the risk of excessively cold rooms and frozen heating pipes.

It does not replace suitable building insulation, pipe protection or the boiler’s own frost-protection function.

Low-Battery Warning

The thermostat provides a low-battery indication when the battery level falls below the configured threshold.

Battery life can be affected by:

  • Valve movement frequency

  • Wireless communication

  • Display use

  • Battery quality

  • Ambient temperature

  • Valve resistance

  • Network signal quality

Use the recommended alkaline batteries and replace both batteries together.

Automatic Valve Exercise

A radiator valve can become stiff when it remains in one position for a long period.

An automatic valve-exercise or anti-seizing function periodically moves the actuator to help reduce valve sticking.

This function cannot repair a damaged, corroded or mechanically seized valve body.

Local Rotary Control

The temperature can be adjusted directly on the radiator thermostat without opening the app.

This is useful for guests, children, elderly users and properties where local control must remain available.

LED Display

The LED display shows temperature and device information while maintaining a compact radiator-mounted design.

Display behavior and brightness depend on the selected firmware.
